Thousands Left Without Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Severe Storms
Approximately 25,000 homes in south-east Queensland woke up lacking electricity on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms impacted the area, bringing powerful gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Impact
Locals observed giant hailstones as large as 7cm in particular locations. Weather authorities confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by significant hail.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the affected regions, with dozens of response units activated to manage the extensive power failures.
Victorian Weather Woes
At the same time, nearly 1,000 residents in the southern state also experienced power outages after the metropolitan area recorded its most precipitation in 18 months.
Emergency response teams handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the region, mainly for structural issues but also for fallen timber and inundation.

- Wyndham area - 179 calls for assistance
At one point on yesterday, more than 28,000 electricity consumers in Victoria were without power.
Climate Outlook
Damp conditions were expected to linger along significant areas of eastern Queensland this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the shoreline.
Tuesday was forecast to be the wettest day, with ongoing severe weather risk predicted across various areas of both regions.
Safety Concern
Health officials warned that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the countryside regions, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
This caution comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
